Vessels are mode of delivery for fluid blood or lymph. Problems with system leads to problems with oxygen/nutrient delivery or elimination of waste. Ischemia deficiency of oxygenated blood to tissue, occurs when blood vessels is obstructed, if completely blocked distal tissue may die, can be apparent during exercise (when oxygen levels are down) Brachial artery from biceps-triceps furrow and at the skin surface of the antecubital fossa, medial to biceps tendon. Femoral artery passes under inguinal ligament, down thigh then behind leg at lower thigh and becomes the popliteal artery behind the knee, it then divides below the knee. Anterior tibial artery travels along front of leg onto top of foot and becomes the dorsalis pedis artery. Posterior tibial artery travels down back of leg, behind medial malleolus and divides into plantar arteries within foot. Veins: similar pattern to arteries, more veins than arteries in body and are closer to skin.
