Place the probe in clients mouth under the tongue and instruct client to keep mouth closed and not bite on thermometer. Ensure the thermometer probe is in the posterior sublingual pocket under the tongue and slightly off centre. Most oral thermometers are electronic and provide digital diplay of the reading. Discard probe cover in garbage ( without touching it)
