Intelligence test: diagnostic tool designed to measure overall thinking ability, e. g. naming objects, word meanings, memory pictures etc, higher mental processes reasoning, understanding and judgment, sensation. Abstract thinking: capacity to understand hypothetical concepts. Intelligence: reasons abstractly, adapt in novel circumstances, acquire knowledge, benefit from experience, reasons well/quickly. Large amounts of knowledge in brief time: wisdom/judgment > intellectual brilliance. Intelligence test correlated because reflects influence of all intelligence. S (specific abilities: particular ability level in narrow domain (not only general smart) Idea that people vary in their ability levels across different domains of intellectual skill (g = wrong and incomplete) Triarchic model: model of intelligence by sternberg positioning three different types of intelligence, analytical (book smarts)- closely related to g, practical (street smarts)- tactic intelligence / social intelligence, creative (creativity) novel/ effective answers to q"s/ predict outcomes. Intelligence/ brain structure: brain volume measured with mri = positively correlated wit brain volume, third variable could be nutrients.
