Sexting refers to sending sexually related texts or images from one mobile phone to another, biggest issue being the sending of nude photographs. In one study, 22% of teen girls and 18% of teen boys reported that they had electronically sent or posted online nude or semi-nude pictures or videos of themselves. Possessing nude photos of people under the age of 18 is illegal and breaks canada"s child pornography laws. A queer vision of emerging adulthood: seeing sexuality in the transition to adulthood (torkelson, 2012) The field fails to adequately look at how individuals who face legal and structural barriers to attaining traditional family and married life (lgbtq+) negotiate their way into adulthood. Markers that professionals believe define adulthood include home ownership, marriage, parenthood, and stable employment. Connections between sexuality and the transition to adulthood have not been extensively explored; identity development theory of erikson conceives sexuality as a key component.
