Contains: renal corpuscle: spherical structure at the beginning of nephron that contains the glomerulus (ball of capillaries) surrounded by bowman"s capsule. Glomerulus is supplied by the afferent arteriole and drained by the efferent arteriole. Urinary bladder: hollow, muscular collecting sac for urine that is retroperitoneal and is in the pelvis posterior to pubic symphysis. Urethra: hollow tube that travels from anterior part of trigone to the urethral orifice in the perineum and expels urine from bladder to the outside of body. In females very short, ~4 cm which can easilt cause infection from bacteria found in the perineum. Infection more likely if urine in bladder is allowed to sit for long time: during sexual intercourse, urethra can be irritated or bruised since its found anterior to vagina.
