Firstly, james tells the background of mcluhan and why he began to study the effects of new technologies/medium. Then in the second part the new media age, mcluhan"s explain in 1964, television had become a modern combination of the national hearth and central in the home, he called it the television age. And the next new media age is computer, because everyone use the computer at home rather than television. Next, to redress the imbalance, mcluhan wanted people to appreciate that human technologies, like all people"s artifacts, are outerings of human faculties, or utterings . Mcluhan shows two systems to represent the media that called. The definition of cool media is lower intensity and higher participation. The hot media requires higher intensity and lower participation.
