Gender roles have been assigned to babies when they come out of the womb ever since the dawn of time or ultra sounds when you are far along enough to tell the gender. If you have a xx chromosome, a penis- you are of the male gender; in contrast if you have a xy chromosome, breasts and a vagina- then you are a female. This is a comfortable, socially acceptable 20th century view on gender roles- does not deviate from the norm.
