Insight therapies: talk therapy, clients engage in complex verbal interactions with their therapists. Behaviour therapies: based on the principles of learning, make direct efforts to alter problematic responses and maladaptive habits. Biomedical therapies: involve interventions into a person"s biological functioning, have traditionally only been provided by someone with a medical degree. Other mental health professionals: clinical social workers and psychiatric nurses often work as a part of a treatment team with a psychologist or psychiatrist, counsellors also provide therapeutic services. Insight therapies involve verbal interactions intended to enhance clients" self-knowledge and thus promote healthful changes in personality and behaviour.
