Chapter 9 summary frhd: sexual orientation- a person"s erotic attraction, who they"re interested in, heterosexual, homosexual, bisexual. The term homosexual is somewhat controversial because it draws attention to sexual behavior. Historically associated with deviance and mental illness. Mosher et al 2005- homosexuality referring to romantic interest and erotic attraction. Like heterosexual couples in that they want to establish attachments as a framework for love and intimacy (uni of windsor study) A significant percentage of people are neither exclusively heterosexual nor exclusively homosexual falling somewhere in between. It"s not unusual for heterosexuals to have sexual experiences with people of their own sex. Many studies have found that asians blacks and latinos maybe less likely than whites to identify themselves as gay lesbian or bisexual even when they engage in sexual activities with people of their own sex. Women"s sexuality tend to be more flexible than men"s.
