Regional: an important change that took place in popular music in the first half of the 21st century was the emergence of a national audience, hard to imagine a world where most culture is regional. 1945 period: both groups made harmony singing their trademark, the two groups served as one precursor to the doo-wop and girl groups that played an important role in rock and roll in the 1950s and 1960s. Frank sinatra: frank sinatra established a new model for the pop-music singer. 1950s pop: singers such as eddie fisher and tony bennet scored hit records in the new, more youth-oriented mold cast by sinatra, fisher"s "oh! My pa-pa" (1954: bennett"s "rag to riches" (1953) Bluegrass: the origin of the style can be traced to bill monroe and his blue grass boys, while bluegrass numbers often feature singing, they also showcase virtuosic instrumental soloing, some compare bluegrass with jazz.
