Psychodynamic theory: evolving family of different theories and ideas that share many key features. Universal assumption is that personality and behavior is controlled by consciousness which is ultimately controlled by unconsciousness. Psychodynamic theory states that we have really control over ourselves and little insight into reasons for our own behaviors. Conscious mind: current awareness, containing everything you are aware of right now. Unconscious mind: a vaster and powerful but inaccessible part of your consciousness, operating without your conscious endorsement or will to influence and guide your behaviors.
