Can"t tell depth from two point on reina as informaion on reina is 2d: we need to consider the enire reinal image. However this is sill 2d, how do we get to 3d percepion: cue approach to depth percepion. Focuses on idenifying informaion in the reinal image that is correlated with depth in the scene. Cues based on our ability to sense the posiion of our eyes and tension in our eye muscles: convergence, the inward movement of the eyes that occur when we look at nearby objects. Change in convergence angle as your eye muscles cause your eyes to look inward: accommodaion, the change in the shape of the lens that occurs when we focus on objects at various distances. The change in the shape of the lens as the eye accommodates to focus on a near. Indicate when an object is close object: only useful up to a distance of about arm"s length.
