Idenify the general demographic features of audience, and gauge importance of those features to paricular speaking situaion. Think of age: don"t make stereotypes of groups. Age (irst things are more important) -> has common values and experiences that set them apart from other generaions. Gender don"t make assumpions of genders, and not use sexist language. Sexual orientaion keeping in mind people can be gay or lesbian. Physical seing be energeic, alert, involved with your topic, and you"ll overcome even physical seings you can"t control. Disposiion toward the topic : interest assess interest to topic. Knowledge people tend to be interested in what they know about. Will also determine at what level you can speak to your listeners. Aitude frame of mind in favor of or opposed to person, policy, belief, insituion.
