Law: external sanction: rules developed by government order to provide balance in society and protection to its citizens. Are codifications of ethics meant to regulate society. Will punish anyone who happens to violate it and made with ethics as a guiding principle. Survival: day to day functions; historically, it is a good way to maintain cohesion and group order. Living outside the group was very difficult, security in number. Easier to survive in a group; division of labour and economy: social cohesion: old way is ethics, do what the group is doing, minority may have feared for their safety. More internal sanction, subjective, os in mind. No need for external persuasion, punishment: social judgement. Code of ethics: are professional guidelines for appropriate behaviour in an organization or group.
