Differential association is a theory of criminality proposed by edwin sutherland which states that the actions of criminals are learned deviant behaviours shaped by others whom they associate. Some say delinquent behaviour can be explained by the absence of social bonds and lack self control. Attachments/connections individuals have to parents, teachers, ect. Belief in a commonly held set of social values.
