Describing a personality based on consistent behavioural patterns (optimism) Distinctiveness everyone acts differently to certain situations. The five train model: extraversion, neuroticism, openess to experience, agreeableness, conscientiousness. Personality theories are broken into 4 categories: psychodynamic, behavioural, humanistic, biological. Looks at sigmund freud, carl jung and alfred adler. Ice berg and the 3 levels of it. Conflict and the tyranny of sex and aggression. B. f skinner, albert bandura, and walter mischel. Skinners theory of operant conditioning was never thought to have been applied to personality. However it has been applied to all areas of of thinking and development. Focued more on the external environment and how it effects (moulds) our behaviour. Responses to our actions often indicate if they will be repeated or not. Operatn conditioning plays a big part in the development of human personality. If impulsive decisions always backfire then one is more likely to be less impulsive. Worked with the bobo doll and modelling and aggression.
