The study of interaction between groups and individuals in human society and involves the critical examination of everyday aspects of human life. Can be both on a micro and macro level. And explores the connecting similarities between the two. Sociology in terms of health explores dimensions of health, illness and health care. For example some of the things a sociologist would look at in terms of health is examining the doctor-patient relationship and lay perspectives. Sociology has been described as the science of society and theorists attempt to use their sociological imagination when examining aspects of society such as health and illness. Sociological imagination involves thinking beyond personal experience and beginning to challenge any obvious explanations of human actions. It can also be carried out objectively and involves generalization, analysis and theory. Defamiliiarizing the situation = sociologists distancing themselves from a certain issue trying to be analyzed.
