HLTB15H3 Chapter Notes - Chapter 6: Icmje Recommendations
Document Summary
Most researchers start as middle authors before becoming a lead (first) author for the first time. Decisions about who qualifies for coauthorship should be transparent and made early in the research process. The international committee of medical journal editors (icmje) established criteria for authorship in the health sciences. All four criteria must be met for a researcher to earn coauthorship: substantial contributions to the conception and design of the study and/or data collection, analysis, or interpretation i. Authorship requires participation in the writing of the research report: drafting and/or critically revising the intellectual content of the manuscript, approve the final version of the manuscript to be submitted i. ii. To make sure that no one is listed as an author against his or her will or without his or her knowledge. All coauthors have to consent to the submission and agree to accept responsibility for the integrity of their contributions: accept responsibility for the integrity of the paper.
