Many canadians view they health care as a source of national pride, and differentiates us from americans ongoing criticism is that canada"s health care system is too costly. Most of the training was dependant on lectures there was next to no practical knowledge or experiences all it took was a student to attend lectures to receive a doctor diploma. Heroic medicine an aggressive system of treatment used by allopathic doctors (regular doctors) during the 19th century that emphasized curing illnesses by purging the body through bloodletting, causing extreme vomiting, or using repeated laxatives or diuretics. Dr ignaz semmelweis has demonstrated that because midwives had relatively clean heads where as doctors often went without washing they hands, more childbearing women died on medical wards than on midwifery wards.
