Libido is the motivation for sexual activity and pleasure. Why do we have sex: for physical reasons, to help attain a goal, for emotional reasons, because of insecurity. Sexual response cycle describes the phases of physiological change during sexual activity, which comprises 4 primary stages: 1) excitement; 2) plateau; 3) orgasm; 4) resolution. Refectory period is a time period during which erection and orgasm are not physically possible. Gender roles are accepted attitudes and behaviours for males and females. Sexual scripts is the set of rules or assumptions about sexual behaviours of males and females. Sex guilt is negative emotional feelings for having violated cultural accepted standards of appropriate sexual behavior. Needs: to find self- fulfillment and realize one"s potential. Cognitive needs: to know, to understand, and explore. Esteem needs: to achieve, be competent, gain approval and recognition. Belongingness and love needs: to be with others, be accepted and belong. Safety needs: to feel secure and safe, out of danger.
