Document Summary
1/5 people will experience a psychological disorder in their lifetime but disorders touch everyone"s life, indirectly or directly. Over past decades, attitudes toward therapy have changed general normalization of the whole idea of psychological disorders and a lessening of the stigma toward mental illness. Shift is re ected in the high number of people who seek help. Women do it more often than men; people 35-55 do it more often. People from certain cultural groups are less likely to do it canadians and. 1600 adults diagnosed with depression or anxiety disorder and only 30% got therapy. A lot of people delay receiving treatment even if they know about the disease. A problem that everyone struggles with is that disorders are inherently ambiguous no de nable line between mentally healthy and mentally ill so there is no need for therapy; e. g. being sad doesn"t mean you need therapy.
