Moivaion: concerns the physiological and psychological processes underlying the iniiaion of behaviours that direct organisms towards speciic goals: moives include thoughts, feelings sensaions and bodily processes. Drive: a biological trigger that tells us we may be deprived of something and causes us to seek out what is needed, such as food or water. Incenives: (or goals) the simuli we seek to reduce the drives such as social approval and companionship, food, water and other needs. Homeostasis: the body"s physiological processes that allow it to maintain consistent internal states in response to the outer environment. Allostasis: moivaion is not only inluenced by current needs, but also by the anicipaion of future needs. Hunger is a biological drive that inluences what we pay atenion to and interacts with our past experiences and current mental states such as excitement and anxiety. On and of switch for hunger is found in hypothalamus, inluenced by hormones.
