Levels or values of the variable represent a general class within which there will be at least two specific instances: a variable must have two or more levels. Values will have true numeric, or quantitative, properties: ex. A task performance is a score on a 50-question memory test on which the values can range from a low of 0 correct to a high of 50 correct; these values have numeric properties. Values can have descriptive properties that are split into different categories: ex. Sex common values for sex are male and female; they"re difference but they don"t differ in amount or quantity.
