Increase in gnrh in hypothalamus leads to rise in 2 key reproductive hormones: fsh and lh: puberty results from production of various hormones, pubery is marked by 2 stages: 1. In girls, increased fsh leads to onset of menstruation. In this 2nd stage, girl"s o(cid:448)aries i(cid:374)(cid:272)rease their estroge(cid:374) output, (cid:449)hi(cid:272)h sti(cid:373)ulates gro(cid:449)th of fe(cid:373)ale genitals and development of breasts and pubic and underarm hair. Primary and secondary sex characteristics: primary sex characteristics- are the organs necessary for reproduction. In females, the sex organs include ovaries, fallopian tubes, uterus, clitoris, and vagina. In males, they include testes, penis, scrotum, seminal vesicles and prostate gland. Increased activity of sebaceous glands may give rise to pimples and blackheads: acne more common in boys in relation to increased testosterone.
