Document Summary

The descendents would inherit the variants that led to their ancestors" survival and reproduction . Natural selection results in gradual changes in a species over time, and these successful variants would come to characterize the entire species. Hostile forces of nature events that impede survival, which include food shortages, disease, parasites, predators, and extreme weather: variants that would help organisms survive these forces had an increased likelihood of successful reproduction. Mechanisms, resulting from a long and repeated process of natural selection, are called adaptations. 1) intrasexual competition members of the same sex compete with each other, and the outcome of their context gives the winner greater sexual access to members of the opposite sex.
