Person can see body of biological man, but personally experiences his body as belonging to a woman. May try to surgically alter body to bring in line with gender identity. A man with gid would consider his relationship with another man to be heterosexual, since he considers himself to be a woman. *does not include schizophrenic clients, who rarely claim to be of other sex, or hermaphrodites.
