PSYB32H3 Chapter Notes - Chapter 11: Morphogenesis, Homeostasis, Only Child
Document Summary
Socialization: the process by which parents/others ensure that a child"s standards of behaviours, attitudes, skills, and motives conform closely to those deemed appropriate for their role in society. Ecological systems perspective: a system is complex and organized and has an ongoing identity of its own. While it maintains stability over time, it must be capable of morphogenesis. It also demonstrates equifinality as time goes by, demonstrating many similarities with systems around it: interdependency: the family member and the system influence and have effects on one another. Problems between one family member and another can have widespread influences on the system as a whole: families tend to obtain homeostasis in their functions and tend to be resistant to forces that may alter this balance. However, not so good when there is a problem. May not want to deal with it because it will rock the boat: boundaries: how permeable or vulnerable they are to outside influences.
