PSYB45H3 Chapter Notes - Chapter 3-5: Classical Conditioning, Conditioned Taste Aversion, Aversion Therapy
Document Summary
Week 2 may 11 th , 2015: pavlovian conditioning (named after ivan pavlov"s studies, classical conditioning (because it was the first type of conditioning to be identified) Respondent behaviors: behaviors elicited by prior stimuli and aren"t affected by their consequences: are influenced by respondent conditioning, based on unconditioned reflexes. Neutral stimulus (ns): stimuli that do not elicit a response. The greater the number of pairings in a cs with a us, the greater the ability for the cs to elicit the cr, until a maximum strength of the conditioned reflex has been reached. Backward conditioning: if the cs precedes the us by about half a second, rather than by a longer time or rather than following the us. A cs acquires greater ability to elicit a cr if the cs is always paired with a us than if it"s occasionally paired with the us.
