PSYB45H3 Chapter Notes - Chapter 3: Classical Conditioning, Conditioned Taste Aversion, Aversion Therapy
Document Summary
Chapter 3: respondent (classical, pavlovian) conditioning of reflexive behavior. Behavioral principles procedures are ways of manipulating stimuli to influence behavior. Principles are procedures that have consistent effect and cannot be broken down even further. Behavioral procedures are combinations of behavioral principles. Principles and procedures of respondent conditioning/pavlovian conditioning. Anxious feeling to a loud sound seem to be reflexive respondent behaviors which are elicited by prior stimuli and are not affected by their consequences. Respondent behaviors are influenced by respondent conditioning which is based on unconditioned reflexes. Unconditioned reflex is a stimulus response relationship in which a stimulus automatically elicits a response apart from any prior learning. Unconditioned reflexes are hard wired or in born. Unconditioned stimulus (us) is a stimulus that elicits a response w/o prior learning or conditioning. Unconditioned response (ur) is a response elicited by an unconditioned stimulus.
