Case study: late 1870s- mcguffey"s first ecletic reader most popular reading textbook. It had a complex rigor that was rarely seen in reading material for kids. Kids learned and can teach themselves because there were diacritical markers indicating how to pronounce the new words. We don"t really see this method in teaching today. The structure of language: wilhelm wundt: one of the first to do research in psychology of language. Wanted to examine the structure of language (experience and the words used to describe it) Wundt: used tree diagrams to describe relationships between diff parts of overall experience of a situation. Tree diagrams: start with one level where relations are simultaneously present.
