Prejudice can be defined as negative emotion towards outgroup marked by cognition, affects and behaviors. Ind differences in how much people accept prejudice. People differ in how dispositionally prejudiced they are: brief history. Cognitive conservatism: marked by ridgity and a desire for simplicity and certainty. Right wing authoritarianism (rwa) predicts explicit prejudice towards minorities. Also strongly predicts implicit prejudice towards blacks, but not gays if used alone as a measure. Social dominance theory (sdo) degree to which people think society should be hierarchal. Has been shown to maybe show explicit prejudice but not implicit as of yet in research. Both of these together account for the bulk of individual differences in peoples generalized prejudice. The only additional variance was peoples gender and their levels of empathy. Both combined showed more prejudice towards a variety of ethnic groups compared to other study participants.
