PSYC85H3 Chapter Notes - Chapter 9: Classical Conditioning, Reinforcement, Erogenous Zone
Document Summary
The process of destroying parts of the cortex and observing the results (franz, lashley). The belief that all objects, including plants and animals, have souls. A technique developed by bekhterev in which a stimulus, such as electrical shock, was applied to a person"s finger. The response was withdrawal of the finger upon being shocked. This response could come to be elicited by a signaling that had preceded the shock. Reflexes which are conditional in the sense that they depend upon learning (pavlov). A response that is made to a conditioned stimulus (pavlov). A previously neutral stimulus that comes to elicit a fraction of the response elicited by an unconditioned stimulus. A society that is the opposite of a utopia (skinner). The theory that a person"s behaviour is entirely determined by his or her environment. (watson) Together with inhibition, one of the fundamental cortical processes (pavlov). Humans come equipped with three emotional responses tied to particular stimuli fear, rage, & love.
