Empiricism: view that knowledge arises directly from observations and experiences. Psychologists use behavior to make inferences about what is happening in the mind. Dualism: idea that mind and body are separate entities. Rene descartes: believed the mind could exert its in uences over the body through the pineal gland, concept of re ex: the body acting without the mind.
