Memory is a collecion of several types of systems that store informaion in diferent forms for diferent amounts of ime. Includes three memory stores; retain informaion in memory without using it for any speciic purpose (like hard drives for a computer) Include sensory memory, short term memory and long term memory. Control processes; shit informaion from one memory store to another (represented by the arrows in the model) Informaion enters sensory memory store through vision, hearing and other senses and the control process we call atenion; selects which informaion will be passed on to stm. Some informaion in stm goes through encoding; the process of storing informaion in the ltm system. Retrieval; brings informaion from ltm back into stm. Sensory memory; a memory store that accurately holds perceptual informaion for a brief amount of ime. Iconic memory: the visual form of sensory memory is held for about half to one second.
