Document Summary
Latent learning (proposed by edward tolman) learning that is not immediately expressed by a response until the organism is reinforced for doing so (ex. Your friend drives you to school every day although you aren"t the one driving, you are still subconsciously learning the route of the road. If one day your friend is sick and asks you drive, you will probably know how to get to school even though you"ve never made a conscious effort to learn). Therefore, latent learning is learning stuff but not showing that you"ve learned it until you need to. There were two types of people: s-r (stimulus-response theorists) and s-o-r (stimulus- organism-response theorists) S-r theorists believed that people think and react in a certain way because they have been taught (either directly or indirectly) throughout their life to act that way in that specific type of situation (behaviourist way of thinking)
