Document Summary

Rs 17 - cyber-psychopathy: an expression of dark e-personality. Virtual identities and real identities are not the same, cyberspace is a completely different social context, while online, people are: extroverted. Context-dependent personality: trait expression isn"t stable, but depends largely on situations. E-personalities aren"t universal, some are good and others are bad because: anonymity, no non-verbal cues, asynchronity, no norms; basically the wild west no laws and you can do whatever. "no holding back" and self-compartmentalization is facilitated due to internet; they will do things they normally wouldn"t do outside of the internet. Dark e-personalities = psychopathy on the internet: want personal gain, no regard for others, anti-social behaviours. Those with dark personalities like psycopathy are usually perpetrators of cyber bullying etc. Because being online facilitates psychological distancing, less social interactions. E. g. less eye contact in online world, so less eye contact happens in real world. Rs 19 - spaces, places, and states of mind: a study of two homeless communities.
