Document Summary
The articles highlight the role that globalization plays in the development of world society. Drezner argues the race-to-bottom caused by globalization relates to the evolution of the world. Race to bottom is defined as deregulation of environment and exploitation of labour to maximize the profit. The author finds the evidence of improving working standards due to the openness of the labor market in developing countries. However, the openness inhibits the development of developing countries because the developed countries consume local resources and export back to their own countries. Drezner suggests considering public opinions is necessary to creating profits and avoiding economic pain. Similarly, in the article world society and the nation-state , the authors explore how the worldwide models help construct distinctive nation states. Depending on exploring the world models, there are four perspectives for analyzing the properties.
