Document Summary
Organizational commitment: the desire on the part of an employee to remain a member of an orga(cid:374)izatio(cid:374). (a(cid:374) e(cid:373)plo(cid:455)ee"s le(cid:448)el of attachment to an organization) Organization commitment influences whether an employee stays in an organization (is retained) or leaves (turns over). Employees who are not committed to their organization engage in withdrawal behaviour: employee actions that are intended to avoid work situations. (behaviours that may eventually lead to the employee quitting) Withdrawal can come in many different forms not just quitting. The most immediate cause of all forms of withdrawal behaviour is the level of overall commitment felt by an individual. (this is why organizational commitment is considered a primary outcome in the integrative model) Forms of commitment: (where does organizational commitment come from: affective commitment: a(cid:374) e(cid:373)plo(cid:455)ee"s desire to re(cid:373)ai(cid:374) a (cid:373)e(cid:373)(cid:271)er of a(cid:374) organization due to a feeling of emotional attachment.
