Social justice and distributive justice are two different things. Distinction between a concept and the various conceptions of that concept. A (cid:862)(cid:272)o(cid:374)(cid:272)eptio(cid:374)(cid:863) is the particular specification of that concept, by giving it some detail. Only what is due to them, not what would be nice for them to have, not even what is morally due to them. We ought to help them in their time of need and it is morally praiseworthy but there. Is no duty to do so but there is a little obligation to help needy members of our own society. The state is justified in making sure that people carry out their duties to one another. It is justified in using its coercive power to force people to do what they might not do voluntarily this is conceptual confusion. Everybody can agree that it is legitimate for the state to enforce the law against murder.
