Document Summary
Lyza-jane de vera the capacity and willingness to expend effort is the motivational/ will do component of behavior. To change behavior, one must change motivation, kanfer et al. (2008) One conception of motivation is that it accounts for the difference between typical and maximum performance: typical performance: what they will do, maximum performance: what they can do. Each determinant is critical to the manifestation of behavior. Behavior is at its maximum when a person has; high ability, high motivation, and a supportive environment. A theory of motivation based on the perceived degree of relationship between how much effort a person expends and the performance that results from the effort. A cognitive theory since each person is assumed to be a rational decision maker who will expend effort on activities that lead to desired rewards. Individuals are thought to know what they want from work and understand that their performance will determine whether they get the rewards they desire.
