Some forms are meant to fix or punish deviant behavior or characteristics after they have occurred/been detected. Other forms of social control are meant to prevent deviance from occurring such as educational programs. Some measures we exert on ourselves such as diets or. We are all subjected to measures of social control extra studying everyday. Deviance is often suggested to be a violation of society"s norms. There is a large amount of confusion over the true definition of deviance. Deviance emerges from complex social processes that teach us how to label behaviors and characteristics as good/bad, right/wrong, moral/immoral, or normal/abnormal.
