Help improve mood of people who are depressed. Usually affects serotonin and norepinephrine: mood stabilizing. Help level moods of those with bipolar disorder. Bipolar disorder is condition marked by mood swings from mania to depression: anti-anxiety drugs: Psychiatrists prescribe on average 2-3 prescriptions per patient. General practitioners provide drug therapy to majority of patients suffering from symptoms of depression. In most cases a combination of psychotherapy and drugs has a stronger effect than drugs alone.
