Psychology: the study of metal processes and behaviours. Mental processes: activities of our brain when engaged in thinking, observing the environment. Behaviour: activities of an organism, often in response to environmental cues. Prediction- predict circumstances under which z variety of behaviours and mental processes occur. The brain- how brain structure and brain cell activity differ from people and behaviours. The person- how the content of the individuals mental processes form and influence behaviour. The group- how behaviour is shaped by the social and cultural environments. Hippocrates believed that disease had a rational explanation. Believed health was influenced by humors (blood, phlegm, yellow bile and black bile) Consciousness: personal awareness of ongoing mental processes, behaviours, and environmental events. Voluntarism: will is regarded as the ultimate agency in human behaviour; belief that much of behaviour is motivated and attention is focused for an explicit purpose. Edward titchener (1867-1927) expanded on wundt"s approach and formed structuralism.
