1) determine prevalence, incidence, and patterns of drug use
2) measure personal/social harms associated with patterns of use
3) assess context of use/identify risk and protective factors and consequences
4) establish baseline data against which to evaluate effectiveness of CDS and harm
reduction efforts
Canadian Campus Survey CCS:
-1998 vs 2004
-hallucinogens and LSD showed small decreases
-alcohol use showed little change
-cannabis use showed little change
-cannabis declined among students from the Praries
-cannabis increased in Atlantic region
-most common used illicit drug is cannabis used by 16% of students during past 30 days
and 30.9% during lifetime
-Canadian uni students more likely than American students to have drunk alcohol in past
month (77% vs 66%) and less likely (30% vs 38.5%) to have been binge drinking
