PS282 Chapter 10: Implementation Models
Document Summary
Scaling up: going from original development of innovation to its widespread implementation. Broader theory of processes through which new ideas/products are spread through cultures: widespread implementation: widespread, program shows effectiveness in wide variety of settings, transferred from developers to new implementers who in turn conduct further program diffusion. In order for organization/individual to adopt new idea, a 5 step process must occur: knowledge 2) persuasion 3) decision 4) implementation 5) confirmation. Focus on desire of researchers to push communities/organizations to adopt evidence based programs. We know it works so how do we get it successfully adopted into real life settings? . How do we find programs that will work for our issues in our community and then how do we successfully adopt them? . Both models assume the development of new interventions begins w researchers. Successful implementation must be based on a participatory action research approach w community members involved in every step.
