Chapter 6  Electronic Commerce (EC) describes the process of buying, selling, transferring, or exchanging product, services, or information via computer networks, including the internet.  E-business refer servicing customer, collaborating with business partner, and performance electronic transactions within an organization.  The degree of digitization refers to the extent to which the commerce has been transformed from physical to digital can be purchase, the process ,and the delivery agent can be physical or digital  Pure EC: Buying an e-book from Amazon.com or a software product from Buy.com  Partial EC: Buying a shirt from Walmart on-line or a book from Amazon.ca  Most major E-commerce mechanism (Electronic catalogues, auctions, storefronts, e-mall)  Cyber-banking (electronic banking) involves conducting various banking activities from other places (home, business place, etc)  Electronic retailing (e-tailing) is the direct sales of products through electronic store front or electronic malls, usually designed around an electronic catalogues format and/or auctions (B2C)  Issues in E-tailing: - May face a conflict with companies regular distributors, called Channel conflict integration of off- line and on-line channel called multi-channeling - Order fulfillment 订单执行, which companies need to accomplish a series of actives effectively  Online Advertising: - Banners are simply electronic billboards - Pop-up ad appears in front of the current bro
