Document Summary

Light is a form of energy that sustains virtually all organisms and provides organisms with info about the physical world around them. Light is most commonly defined as the portion of the electromagnetic spectrum that humans can detect with their eyes (400 to 700nm) Light is composed as a stream of energy particles called protons. Partial wave duality is when light has properties of both a wave and a stream of photons. The longer the wavelength, the lower the energy of the photons it contains. Shorter wave length blue light consists of photons of higher energy than red light. When light hits an object, the photon has three possible fates: it can be reflected, transmitted through or it can be absorbed by object. For light to be used as a source of energy it has to be absorbed meaning energy of photon is transferred to an electron within a molecule.
