A vision statement is a concise, detailed, and thorough goal that is formulated and created in order to determine what the organization wants to achieve. A mission statement is when an organization wants to properly articulate their perspective of what they want to see them do in the future as well as long-term. This is the purpose of the company. This is the driving force of the organization.
