Healthy muscles allow an individual to move freely and keep the body responsive and strong. Muscles are responsible for coordinated activities (posture, ambulations, daily activity, work, and sport) Unhealthy muscles can result in limiting ability, increase chances to damage, injury, lower psycho social health, lower health and fitness in general. Musculoskeletal disorders are the leading cause of being away from work or disability. Most common msk diseases are low back pain, arthritis, osteoporosis and occupational related. One third of individuals who have had back pain will have recurrent back pain. (keeps happening) Movements such as trunk flexion, sustained sitting, frequent bending, twisting, lowering, lifting, pushing, pulling, whole body vibration are common factors that lead to lower back pain. Can range from muscle ache to disability. Can be the result of many causes: fracture, osteoporosis, bulging disks, herniation, pinched nerves, arthritis, inflammation, or spondylolisthesis. Usually difficult to determine the source of the lower back pain.
