Levothyroxine (t4) is a synthetic form of thyroxine, an endogenous hormone secreted by the thyroid gland. T4 is converted to its active metabolite, l-triiodothyronine (t3). Oral: administer in the morning on an empty stomach, at least 30 minutes before food. Tablet: may be crushed and suspended in 5-10 ml of water; suspension should be used immediately. Missed dose: a missed dose of one tablet can be taken with the next dose. If more than 2 tablets are missed, the patient should consult with their doctor.
